Information we collect:
When you access CellSpotting using the Cellspotting tool, the Cell number from the phone is used as a key to the CellSpotting database, from this we lookup location information. Your Telephone IMEI number is also used, We use the IMEI number to personalize your Access to CellSpotting, it is used as a "userid", but only if the imei is registered at us. When you register as a CellSpotting user you give the following information in your personal profile: Your cell phone IMEI, a password, a Nickname and an email address, You can identify yourself using the IMEI together with the password if you use the web interface. You can also update your personal profile using the web interface.
What is the IMEI Number?
The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique 15-digit code used to identify an individual GSM mobile telephone to a GSM network. The IMEI can be displayed on most phones by dialing the code *# 06 #. It is also usually printed on the compliance plate under the battery.
We use the IMEI as an “user id”, We do not expose your IMEI number on web pages, Only your nickname is exposed.
Registered users IMEI and last visited cell is collected and saved. Together with the list of friends we create the list of where friends are.
Non-registered users IMEI numbers are not saved when doing queries, but if an non-registered user edits or discover a cell we save the IMEI number of the discoverer.
